Existing geometry moves when importing new geometry

Hi there, I am working on an important and urgent animation project. I am experiencing issues when important geometry into a scene (be it using the solidworks plug-in, importing local 3D or importing geometry from other .bip files). Specifically, importing the geometry causes the existing geometry to move, therefore disrupting the animated sequences I have set up.

As I mentioned, this is a very important project I need to complete by the end of the week as it is being shown at a tradeshow. I’m afraid I cannot attached the file as it exceeds the attachment size limit, however I could wetransfer if that works for you?

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

I’m used to use the Keyshot plugin mostly with Rhino and sometimes SolidWorks. It’s not a fix but to avoid any modification on my scene, if I have to import new part or update existing ones, I prefer to make a new empty model set, then import my geometry inside with the KS plugin and manage my parts then in the KS scene tree between model sets. If you’re a bit carefull to keep same tree hierarchy, you will be able to make a copy/paste position between old to new model.

Best.

Hi Pierre, thanks so much for getting back to me. I submitted a ticket with Keyshot support at the same time as posting on here and Nikita was able to identify the problem - it was triggerred by the motion blur effect. Toggling motion blur off, then inserting the geometry didn’t move the existing geometry and the animation sequence functioned as intended. You can then also re-toggle the motion blur so you can still take advantage of it despite it causing the issue. Thank you again, I will take note of your method on importing for any future issues

Interesting, I noticed with 2024.2 Beta every time I import something the motion blur is turned off. It seems they did that to have some workaround.
